Warrant issued for man accused of aggravated assault in DeLand

The DeLand Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a 64-year-old man who is wanted on a felony aggravated assault charge involving a deadly weapon.Police said Francis A. Mercede is the subject of an active warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The warrant carries no bond and includes nationwide pickup, according to the department.Mercede is described as a white man with gray hair and brown eyes. He is about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs approximately 145 pounds. His current whereabouts are unknown.Anyone with information on Mercedes’s location is asked to contact the DeLand Police Department at 386-626-7400.
